It seems that for many the appreciation of art has all to often become about one upmanship and bandwagoning.

We are on a constant mission to discover new things before anyone else and once/if it becomes popular we move on. The value of art is not in how it speaks to us, rather in how we can use it to speak our aspiring ‘tastemaker’ status to the world.

The purpose of Sheep Dressed Up Like Wolves is to:

• Ignore hype and self-satisfying predictions
• Share things that are genuinely inspiring/influencing us (which might even include old things…)
• Provide a forum for discussion where we can share our recommendations and discuss them

As an independent musician I’ve also become a little worn out from trying to promote myself all the time. It’s not something that comes particularly naturally and can often lead to me feeling like I’m banging my head against a brick wall.

It dawned on me a few months ago that promoting others and sharing what’s making me tick would be a healthier and much more fulfilling way to spend my time. I realised that I only really take notice of what other bands say are when they are recommending something other than their selves. It is a given that they are going to recommend their own music but when it’s something else that they have no vested interest in promoting there is more intrinsic value in it.

This is why I wanted to create a platform where I can recommend stuff that is inspiring me. I also want you to be involved by recommending stuff to me that you think I might like. The podcast has very much the same premise.

I will not listen to anything recommended by the artist themselves for reasons already stated. If you want me to check out what you’re doing the best thing to do would be to recommend something amazing and talk to me. Expose me to something great and I’m much more likely to check out the source of the recommendation simple as.

- If you’d like to recommend something then please EMAIL ME

I would love to hear from you.
