To mark 6 months of 07:OH:03 Stylusboy and Atlum Schema will be taking to the stage. It will be an amazing evening and a chance for everyone to see full-length sets from the organisers. They will also be joined by the wonderful Irene Rae.

SATURDAY 19th JUNE 2010

TIME: 19:00-21:00

Atlum Schema

Andy Mort has played in bands since before his voice broke, starting behind the drums as a schoolboy in Leamington Spa. He took seven months after leaving school to write and produce The Final Scene, which was a collection of thoughts and sounds inspired by nighttime driving and his attempts at holding down jobs. Atlum Schema was born and June 2005 saw the first live outing, which comprised of Andy, a guitar, piano and a loop box.

Ever since, apart from releasing a mini EP and completing a degree, he has been travelling between bedrooms, kitchens, garages and hallways playing live and working on the follow up LP. The self-titled 11-track album has taken three years of evolution and reworking. At points Andy was forced to stop and use his imagination in order to raise the necessary funds to carry on recording and now release the LP on his own label.

The live show has taken on a life of its own reaching soaring heights through live sampling, the creation of huge loops and a cocktail of acoustic and gadgetry that leaves audiences stunned and open-mouthed.

‘F*** ME!! Passionate, gorgeous epic songwriting: a MAJOR new talent’
Tom Robinson (BBC 6 Music)

“Are your pieces beautiful?” asks Steve Jones (aka Stylusboy) in his song Jigsaw. “Everyone has so many pieces to their life but how do they all fit together? I often try in my songs is describe parts of my life and what the moment means to me. Some songs are snapshots of one moment in time, some are about a collection of different moments”. Stylusboy’s songs are heartfelt, delicate and full of hope…

“Mixing a sense of melancholy akin to Aqualung with a sense of the melodic that recalls the lighter side of Ryan Adams.”
– God is in the TV

“I love playing with passion and feeling. To connect with an audience through my experiences and voice is what I strive for. The feelings that I express are raw, and so should be the vehicle of their expression.”.

Life and how people treat others are the main influences on Irene Rae’s reflective and emotional sound. “I find it fascinating how people can effect your outlook on life and the way that you live it”.

Music was something that Irene adopted quite late on in comparison to her peers, in fact she taught herself to play the guitar at the age of 22. “I started writing music when I was going through a situation that I couldn’t explain via speaking”. Basically sitting down and teaching herself to play to accompany the singing that was already a natural part of her through Musical Theatre training.

It is this voice that has caught the attention of Local BBC radio stations throughout the UK and also the eye of signed musicians such as Midge Ure. Irene’s first performance was actually supporting Midge Ure at a Festival, two months after starting to teach herself Guitar. Many more artists supported include Hazel O’Connor, The Levellers, John Power (Cast and The La’s), Rod Clements (Lindisfarne), Mark Morriss (the Bluetones) and the Wonderstuff.

SATURDAY 15th MAY 2010

TIME: 19:00-21:00

David Sanders

Sanders won’t help you. He sees you sure. He notices because he’s been watching things for a while. Seen a whole lot of hope turn into so much desperation. He sees the sweat on your collar, the line and flush of your jib and how it jar’s and jels with the cosmos. He sees your pupils dilate, contract, all the telltale wheezes and rattles that your body lets slip in those moments when the clock stops, when things change forever and people have to move on, knuckle down. Great apes are we all. And the mysterious feuds that accompany us on our daily trundle ‘tween lover, labour and loss are Sandez’ focus. Right now, he’s sunning himself on a rock, eating a sandwich, popping on his marigolds and eyeing our corpse with some fascination. He can never decide whether what he does is autopsy or reanimation. Either way the man’s a surgeon. And his fingers know the quickest way to your heart. For anyone can tell us about life’s extremes. But the daily cramp of existence, the headache you can’t skewer (rather than the heartache that’s so easy to pin down) . . these are more elusive. Who you gonna call? Sandez.
Visit his myspace for sounds, sights and smells here

Al Britten

Take one 4-track, an empty back-bedroom in Coventry, an acoustic guitar, some stories about apathetic night workers, haunted car factories, broken hearted adolescents, hazy nights out, and mix all the above into grungey Dylanesque folk music… ta da.

SATURDAY 17th APRIL 2010

Wes Finch is a Coventry born fingerstyle player, singer, songwriter who loves to play live and collaborate with other talented musicians.

Jennie likes to make pretty music. then she likes to play the (hopefully) pretty music in front of smalish crowds. so never to get lonely on-stage she is always accompanied by winston, her laptop.

Sarah Ruddick a singer/songwriter, prominent in the Coventry acoustic scene. She’s played at the Leamington Peace Festival and Godiva Festival in Coventry and has had a remix featured on BBC 6 Music.

Tinker Jack’s first live show was supporting The Electric Soft Parade at Bedford Esquire. This was the start the new project needed after growing up in school together and playing as a band called the Calabashes.

They have received acclaim for their song writing and maturity. Their innovation has allowed them to headline some big shows in the last three years and their biggest claim to greatness so far, inclusion in Jamie Oliver’s top 24 unsigned bands of 2008.

After the amazing success of the first 07:OH:03 in January, which brought Lee Mitchell and John Garrison to Esquires we are thrilled to announce next month’s lineup: Susie Clarke and Fix Monday

SATURDAY 20th FEBRUARY 2010

TIME: 19:00-21:00

Susie Clarke

Independent UK artist Susie Clarke rose to prominence on MTV show ‘Get Seen Get Heard’, in the seminal music channel’s bid to find the cream of the UK’s unsigned talent. Her distinctive soulful vocals and heart-on-sleeve songwriting meant that from over 40,000 entrants, Susie emerged as the number one female artist.

To date she has performed countless acoustic shows, from prestigious supports to headline festival slots. Following a 6-month break writing new music and enjoying lots of nice cups of tea, Susie has finally announced her return and will embark on a UK tour with a difference in Feb/Mar 2010. A documentary film following ‘The Obscure Tour’ is set for viral release in the Spring. Keep your eyes locked to the website for updates.

Fix Monday

Fix Monday blend big rock sounds with delicate harmonies, indie sensibilities with pop catchiness, intricate musicianship with heart and soul.

Mondays are rubbish. They come around too quickly and ruin your Sunday evening. They remind you of how much you hate your job and your boss. Enter then Fix Monday; four lads from Leamington Spa on a crusade to make Mondays, and every other day at that, a little more bearable.

Not content waiting for a record label to sign them, Fix Monday started their own and signed themselves to it – through Sherpa Recordings the band released their début single, the intriguingly titled ‘Margaret Peterson’, on 1st December 2008 as a download-only. In support of this they drove across the country in their white van packing out venues and gaining many new fans both locally and further afield. They released a further 3-track EP at the end of 2009.

It is great that they will be joining us at 07:OH:03.

07:OH:03 is a free new music evening in Coventry run by local artists, Stylusboy and Atlum Schema in the Esquires Coffee Shop at the Transport Museum.

Start your Saturday night with a relaxed drink, some good food and great music from Coventry and a little further afield.

Come and help us launch the night on 23rd January 2010 when we will be treated to some musical treats by John Garrison and Lee Mitchell.

SATURDAY 23rd JANUARY 2010

TIME: 19:00-21:00

John Garrison:

Originally based in the Midlands with his band, local heros Budapest, John decided a move to New York would do him good, and soon acquired session work with Leona Lewis and James Blunt (including a world tour) indicates how good an idea this was. This gave him a chance to establish himself as a solo artist, and as he gained successful residencies in local New York clubs he was able to record two full length albums.

We are very fortunate to have him back in Coventry for 07:OH:03 in January and would urge you to catch him before he heads West again.

Lee Mitchell:

Northern Ireland has a proven track-record for producing passionate, beautiful and poignant song-writers. Lee is no exception to this rule. Coventry is fortunate enough to be hosting him through university and we are not wasting the opportunity to host him at 07:OH:03.

‘He creates a delicious mix of acoustic tenderness and soul laden grooves; backing a voice which sounds like something close to chocolate.’ The Furnace UK
