Atlum Schema is the musical brainchild of Leamington Spa based songwriter, Andy Mort.
After what you might describe as a two year sabbatical since the release of my last album, Year 0, I am heading back into the studio to work on some new material. Music has always been a dear friend of mine, and as such we go through different phases. Sometimes we’re close, sometimes a little more distant. But I know that I can pick up the guitar, or sit at the piano anytime and there it will be with a warm and welcoming embrace.
I have been very fortunate over the years to work with some amazing people and have had some very kind things said about the music I’ve produced. I never want to stop creating and exploring sound in a way that connects with others and with the ebbs, flows, and observations that I notice in the world around me. Music is an experience that both communicates and processes something deeper than words ever can. It is the closest thing we have to magic.
As I write this I have a feeling that I’m ‘coming home’. Life, work, and other creative projects have been the focus of the past couple of years, but now I’m ready to explore again. If there is one thing that working as an undertaker has taught me it’s that life is too short to keep the music inside. Everyone has a song within them. You’ve just got to let it out because things can change in an instant.
